Sara Whitehead concentrates her practice on the defense of products liability, premises liability & amusement park lawsuits, commercial trucking accidents, and general casualty cases. Her products liability practice includes the defense of OEM and component manufacturers of consumer products, automobiles, and prefabricated structures in the class action setting. Her commercial trucking practice involves the defense of wrongful death and catastrophic injury lawsuits stemming from motor vehicle accidents. She has also defended the full range of claims under the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986 and appeared in the defense of clients before the FDOT Commercial Motor Vehicle Review Board.
Sara earned her law degree, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law where she was a member of the Honors Program, Shadow Trial Team, and the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honors Fraternity. She received her B.A. in Political Science from the College of Charleston where she was an NCAA Division I swimmer and Scholastic All-American (1998-2001). Before law school, Sara was a 10-year litigation paralegal at an international law firm where she focused on complex commercial litigation, federal regulatory matters, and contractual / UCC disputes.
Prior to joining Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell, Sara served as a federal court clerk for the Honorable Mark A. Pizzo, United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division.
Sara is actively involved in the community as a Ronald McDonald House Red Shoe Council Member and participates in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life South Tampa and the Hillsborough County Association for Women Lawyers.
