Maggie focuses her practice in the areas of civil litigation including casualty defense and retail and hospitality litigation.
She received her undergraduate degree in political science with a minor in international relations, earning the magna cum laude distinction in only three years at Florida International University. She pursued a master’s degree in international business the following year. Maggie earned her Juris Doctorate with the cum laude distinction at St. Thomas University School of Law.
While in law school, Maggie was president of the Moot Court Board, semi-finalist in the 21st Annual Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition, and quarter-finalist in the Intramural Moot Court Competition. She was also an articles editor for the St. Thomas Law Review, and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for Appellate Advocacy. As part of St. Thomas’ clinical program, Maggie interned for the Appellate Division at the Office of the Public Defender, where she drafted appellate briefs and argued State v. Hernandez, No. 13-1796, in front of the Third District Court of Appeal. Additionally, she participated in the bankruptcy clinic where she filed client cases involving chapter 7 debtors. As part of her internships, she worked at the City Attorney’s Office of the City of Miami focusing on civil rights, commercial and tort litigation, and election law issues, and the Office of the U.S. Trustee, where she gained invaluable experience related to chapter 11 and chapter 7 cases.
Her previous professional experience ranged from litigating complex commercial issues such as representing the D&Os of failed banking institutions against claims of personal liability brought by the FDIC to securities and financial services litigation and internal investigations.
Maggie is fluent in Spanish.
